Does Google AdSense Drops Ad Limit Per Page Policy from Today August 23rd 2016?
All of you know non hosted accounts(web approved) can show only 3 ads + 3 link ads + 2 Custom Search Only per Page.

Ad limit per page

Currently, on each page AdSense publishers may place:

Up to three AdSense for content units
Up to three link units
Up to two search boxes

Publishers may not place more than one "large" ad unit per page. We define a "large" ad unit as any unit similar in size to our 300x600 format. For example, this would include our 300x1050 and 970x250 formats, our 750x200 and 580x400 regional formats, and any other custom sized ad with comparable dimensions.

I received couple of emails and message notifications from AdSense Publisher friends that It seems Google to have dropped ad limit per page policy. Earlier it says "up to three Adsense content units. " Now it has been removed.

Now you can not seen it in no where. Is Google changed to a new policy from today?

Only a dumbass would add more than three adsense units to a website with less than a million pageviews / month. It would destroy your rpm in a couple weeks.

My guess is that this is a way for responsive web pages that auto-load content on scroll to be able to continually show ads. Since we're getting away from page loads, removing the restriction on ads per page makes sense.

But Google also now says:
"Advertising and other paid promotional material added to your pages should not exceed your content. Furthermore, the content you provide should add value and be the focal point for users visiting your page. For this reason, we may limit or disable ad serving on pages with little to no value and/or excessive advertising until changes are made."
In other words, no matter how many ad units are put on a page, Google now reserves the right to disable all or some of them, where they think they are excessive.
More ad units actually means less income anyway, as it puts visitors off. Low key is actually better.

More ads do not mean more revenue. Remember that the auction is significantly lower on those third and fourth units—clicks to those may cannibalize clicks that might have occurred at higher-auction units. Worse, too many ads on pages may hurt search rank, sinking all the boats in the harbor. Focus on user experience.

Oh lovely. Now I bet publishers will place more ads on sites, which will lead to a negative user experience and even more adblockers being installed. Do things like this lead to google in effect shoot themself in the foot?

  They already have more ads. But they just use several ad networks. At least this way, it's only 1 external call and it's only 1 other party getting your data instead of several. It's better for users.

    Yeah, this seems to be a move by Google intended to kill other ad networks. People will place whichever network code they think converts the most and pays best. In some markets that will be AdSense, especially since many advertisers use multiple networks. Even Amazon advertises through AdSense.
